Simon Hassard: London Location Manager

My career began in the TV industry, following the successful completion of a B.A (hons) in Graphic Design at the University of the West of England, where I specialised in photography.

My first job was as a Customer Services representative at a local TV station, before moving across to the marketing department of a children’s TV channel.

In 1999 I went freelance and served a years apprenticeship as a runner, learning the exciting world of commercial filming from the bottom up. I moved into the location department where my particular skill set proved most effective and quickly became a Location Assistant and then a Location Manager.

Since then, I have worked on countless high-end commercials, online viral campaigns, pop promos, TV, feature films, PR events, fashion shoots, and photographic stills campaigns for a range of very high profile clients.

I am based in South London and serve the creative industries with scouting, management and associated production across London, the UK and beyond.

Over the years I have had the privilege of working with some of the biggest stars in the entertainment business including Daniel Craig, Take That, George Michael, Ant and Dec, Jason Donovan, Twiggy, Benedict Cumberbatch, Nicole Scherzinger and even Keith Lemon!

Amongst the many projects I have taken on, I location managed the Strictly Come Dancing BBC TV launch promos, helped make a big budget, zombietastic, Giff Gaff web film for Partizan, managed multiple photoshoots for M&S and helped out on Mathew Vaughan’s ‘Secret Service’ and Sam Mendes ‘Skyfall’ and ‘Spectre’ feature films.

I am a bit of a car fan and am very lucky to regularly work for some of the worlds biggest car companies. I am well versed in temporary traffic control, road closures, tracking vehicles and the controlled use of a U-Crane. I am also a member of the prestigious LMGI – Location Managers Guild International and a member of BECTU.

I have great contacts within all of the London Borough Film Offices and regularly work with the Metropolitan Police Film Unit, London Underground, Network Rail, etc. Being independent, I also have access to ALL of the commercial location libraries on the jobs I do.

I offer a range of services from location research and/or scouting only, right through to full location management including shoot day attendance, depending upon brief and budget.

I also have a trusted team of experienced Location Managers, Assistants and security personnel who support me on the projects I undertake.
